Una gran alianza a favor del medioambiente
A great partnership for the environment
26|07|2017
The Regional Autonomous Corporation of Cesar (Corpocesar) and the Prodeco Group signed a cooperation agreement for the conservation of biodiversity in the Cesar mining corridor, the support of the environmental compensation programs, the care and protection of air and water quality, and the joint design of the closing plan of the mining operations, which involves early territorial planning for a future without mining.
2017 is the year of biodiversity and the environment for the Prodeco Group and Corpocesar, which together have promoted the creation of an environmental framework agreement that seeks to give greater impact to projects being managed by both entities in favor of environmental protection, conservation of biodiversity, efficient use of natural resources and sustainable development in the Cesar mining corridor.
On July 28 in Valledupar, Mark McManus, CEO of the Prodeco Group, and Kaleb Villalobos, Director of Corpocesar, signed a three-year partnership that will promote the integrated management of sustainable development, biodiversity conservation, support to environmental compensation programs developed by the company, care and protection of air and water quality, environmental education in educational institutions and communities, and the joint design of the closing plan of the mining operations, which involves early territorial planning for a future without mining.
One of the first projects being developed within this environmental partnership is the biodiversity monitoring program in the area of influence of the Prodeco Group operations in Cesar, through the Cesar Flora and Fauna Network, that will allow a broader knowledge of the region’s biodiversity for its conservation and sustainable management, through the Center for Attention and Valuation of Fauna and Flora of Corpocesar and the Center for Attention of Wildlife of the Prodeco Group as part of said network.
