Prodeco presented progress in the construction of the Early Environmental Closure Plan for the Calenturitas and La Jagua Mines.

Cesar, March 21, 2025. In compliance with the requirements of both ANLA and the Constitutional Court for the development of participatory spaces in the construction of the Early Environmental Closure Plan for the Calenturitas and La Jagua Mines, the Prodeco Group successfully held the first participatory dialogue roundtables of 2025 with communities from the area of influence, reaffirming its commitment to transparency and community involvement in this process. More than 250 people actively participated in these dialogue sessions held in Becerril, La Jagua de Ibirico, and El Paso on March 18, 19, and 20. Among the attendees were community leaders, union representatives, and local residents. The participatory dialogues were accompanied by the Office of the Ombudsman, the Delegate Attorney for Environmental, Mining, Energy, and Agricultural Affairs, and the Mining Secretariat of the Cesar Governor's Office. Local authorities also attended, including the Mayor of La Jagua de Ibirico, Leonardo Hernández. During these sessions, the Prodeco Group presented the stages defined for the construction of the Early Environmental Closure Plan for the Calenturitas and La Jagua Mines, including the methodological proposal to carry out new participatory spaces with the communities for its development. The team addressed questions and collected concerns from attendees, thus ensuring an open and participatory process. "These initial dialogues have been a very important experience because we were able to present to the communities how we are going to work with them in the process of building our Early Environmental Closure Plan with their contributions and participation. This is a collective process that we must work on together, and we expect the communities to participate," said Oscar Eduardo Gómez, Vice President of Legal Affairs at Prodeco Group, highlighting the importance of these participatory gatherings. As part of its strategy, the Prodeco Group has designed a multi-phase participation roadmap for the preparation and submission of the Early Environmental Closure Plan to the National Authority for Environmental Licenses (ANLA) for its evaluation and subsequent approval. While the construction process of the Early Environmental Closure Plan for the Calenturitas and La Jagua Mines concludes with its approval by ANLA, the relationship with the communities and their participation will continue throughout the implementation of the approved measures, reaffirming the company’s commitment to a responsible and participatory environmental closure. "These dialogue spaces are very positive, as we, the community, have the opportunity to understand what is coming with the closure plan and to build it hand in hand with Prodeco. We invite communities to take ownership of this process and actively participate," said Glenis Catillejo, social leader from El Paso. The Prodeco Group will continue to keep the communities clearly and promptly informed about the progress of the Early Environmental Closure Plan and will maintain open dialogue spaces to strengthen transparency and the commitment to a responsible environmental closure.
