On the 2nd of June, the award - giving ceremony that recognizes the leading companies in Colombia committed with the prevention of risks and accidents was held in Bogotá. For the third time in a row, the Prodeco Group was decorated with the Emerald Cross Medal, in the excellence category, the highest award given by the Colombian Safety Council, CCS.

The operations of the Prodeco Group that received the award are: Calenturitas Mine, La Jagua Mine, Puerto Nuevo and Railway; the latter was recognized among all the winners of the Emerald Cross Medal as the most efficient in safety issues.

“As always, the most important goal of Prodeco’s Group for 2017, is to ensure the safety of our workforce. We have therefore set ambitious targets; a Lost Time Injury Frequency Rate is 0.06, which means only 1 lost time incident for the year, and a Total Recordable Frequency rate of 0.76, which represents a 30% reduction in the number of recordable incidents since last year. I congratulate the whole Prodeco Group and I thank the Colombian Safety Council for this recognition, which is a prize to our excellent work team”, said Mark McManus, president of the Prodeco Group.

These recognitions to the four operations are the result of the hard work and of the commitment for maintaining high health and safety standards throughout year 2016. On the 3rd of April, the Railway operation reached the landmark of six year with no lost - time accidents, an achievement that can only be made when each one of the employees are aware of the importance of the safety in the work environment.

"The integral risk management means that the company generates value in the marketplace, namely that it grows in a profitable manner ensuring its sustainability, growth and consolidation. However, our main responsibility as business leaders is to guarantee the life and physical safety of our workers and to bring them back home safe and sound”, indicated Adriana Solano Luque, theexecutive president of the CCS, in the ceremony in which the awards were given.
