The Prodeco Group received a safety excellence award

For the second time in a row, the Prodeco Group –the third largest mining company in the country – received last Friday in Bogotá the Excellence Merit medal, the highest health and safety award given to Colombian enterprises by the Colombian Safety Council.
The Emerald Cross Merit Medal, in the Excellence category, is the highest decoration given by the Colombian Safety Council, which is given to companies that have an outstanding performance in the maintenance of high safety standards, recognizing their permanent building of a risk prevention culture in the country. The Prodeco Group, led by its CEO Mark McManus, received the award, which consolidate the excellent health and safety performance during year 2015 of the operations of La Jagua Mine, Calenturitas Mine, Puerto Nuevo and railway.
“We are very proud of our safety records. The creation of a safe environment in the workplace takes a lot of work hours, not only in the work environment but also in our family’s way of life. Congratulations to all our employees, and our commitment is to keep on improving every year”, said Mark McManus, CEO of the Prodeco Group.
The Colombian Safety Council made a recognition of all of this year’s winning companies for their commitments to improve, every day, the safety levels in their operations. “In spite of the difficult situation, the crisis and the huge question marks and expectations in terms of growth, you have not failed in your interest, commitment and work to maintain and improve the health of your workers, of the community with which we live, and the environment”, underscored Renán Alfonso Rojas, executive president of the Colombian Safety Council.
Other companies received awards, including Telmex Colombia, Tuscany, General Electrics, Multibanca Colpatria, Exxon Mobil, and some other.
