The visit of de Sara Watson and Jessica Laine Gault – educators from the United Kingdom and the United States, respectively, has generated high levels of expectation of 80 students of the Educational Institution “Alianza para el Progreso”, who, for an initial period of five months, will be immersed in the teaching of the foreign language in order to strengthen their skills in English as a second language.

The young teachers, who have travelled through several countries of the world bringing the English language to the classroom, will arrive in Ciénaga on the 27th of July, sponsored by the Education Ministry, the Heart For Change Foundation Colombia, and its program called Foreign Native Assistants; a well as the Prodeco Group, which has deployed important resources to have one of the institutions that benefit from its social projects to take part in this new educational initiative.

The Prodeco Group wishes to direct this program to the students of the coastal sector of Ciénaga, and to achieve in them a more competitive training for the jobs that many of them will seek in the next few years.

“For the Prodeco Group it is very important to support this type of projects, which are part of our pillars in terms of Sustainability, in this case the pillar of Education. With this program we want to support the young people of Ciénaga to be bilingual, which will surely improve their future possibilities of employment and their possibilities of development. Through our alliance with Social Prosperity we learned of the existence of this program, but Ciénaga was not included as zone to be intervened; that is why we worked to have Ciénaga included, and now we are celebrating the start of the program in this municipality”. Said Nicolás Gómez, Sustainable Development Manager of the Prodeco Group.

The welcome to the teachers, as well as of the personnel of both participating foundations that will start with the program, will be at 8 am in the facilities of the aforementioned school. In the ceremony Edgardo Pérez, mayor of Ciénaga; Luis Andrés Ospina, secretary of Education; students and teachers will be present.
