Prodeco offers its deepest condolences to the family of Mr. Aldemar Parra Garcia, community leader and President of the Bee Keeping Association of El Hatillo. Prodeco condemns this murder, which took place near the village of El Hatillo in the district of La Loma, jurisdiction of the municipality of El Paso, department of Cesar.

In late 2016, following the identification of certain security risks, Prodeco sought the assistance of the Cesar Development and Peace Program (PDPC) for the adoption of preventative and protective measures for the El Hatillo community.

We call on the relevant authorities to thoroughly investigate the circumstances of Mr. Parra's death and to provide the El Hatillo community with the appropriate security measures. Prodeco reiterates its willingness to work with the different authorities, the community of El Hatillo, PDPC and other relevant entities for the prevention and protection of life and human rights for the members of the mentioned community.
