WE PROMOTE THE REINTEGRATION PROCESS OF 30 EX-COMBATANTSIN THE DEPARTMENT OF CESAR

Since 2015, the Regional Employment and Entrepreneurship Centre (C-Emprende), a program created by the Prodeco Group in partnership with the municipal mayor’s office, operates in the municipality of La Jagua de Ibirico, Cesar, and has become an alternative for improving the quality of life of anyone who want to start a business idea or requires support to find a job.

Thanks to the results achieved by this social development programme in its four years of operation, it was possible to open the doors to a group of 30 people in the reintegration process as part of the partnership with the Agency for Reincorporation and Normalisation (ARN), with which we started an entrepreneurship route for this group of people, categorising the productive units that were in operation and validating those innovative business ideas aimed at generating a sustainable income.

With this new group of beneficiaries, eight training modules will be developed that include workshops such as: discovering the profile of the entrepreneur, turning a business idea into a market opportunity, designing the economic and financial plan and completing formalisation procedures, among others .

For Angélica Agámez, coordinator of the ARN – Cesar, initiatives like these that promote entrepreneurship and the microenterprise capacity in vulnerable populations undergoing reintegration represent a real contribution to territorial peace. “Being able to train and bring sustainable entrepreneurship programs to communities affected by the armed conflict, where ex-combatants, victims and vulnerable populations coexist, is a reliable example of peacebuilding in the country,” she said.

In turn, an ex-combatant who participates in this program and asked us not to reveal his name referred to this initiative as a unique opportunity. “I walk three hours to get to La Jagua de Ibirico and hear the lecture at C-emprende. I leave the farm at four in the morning and walk along the road with a flashlight to light the way until the sun starts to rise. I make this effort because I decided to be a better person and leave behind the bitter past. I want to contribute to peace, I want to be productive and I know that I will achieve it.”
