Prodeco Group recognized for excellence in safety

  • The La Jagua and Calenturitas mines, Puerto Nuevo port and Railroad obtained an award as a recognition of its excellent practices in matters of safety and health

June 14, 2018. For the fourth consecutive year, the Prodeco Group received the Emerald Cross Merit Medal. This is a distinction granted by the Colombian Safety Council – CCS (for its Spanish acronym) to country’s companies that stand-out because they maintain high standards of safety and health at work sites.

The recognition was delivered to executives that represented the Prodeco Group in a ceremony carried out on June 12 at Club El Nogal, in the city of Bogotá. The Emerald Cross Merit Medal praises Prodeco Group’s commitment to the culture of prevention of risks developed during 2017 in the La Jagua and Calentaritas mines, Puerto Nuevo port and Railroad operations.

 “Thanks to our Safety and Health management system, we can focus our efforts in the achievement of a safe and healthy work site through a comprehensive program for the development of safety leaders; permanent training of our personnel in the identification of risks and application of critical controls; and the creation of a program for the promotion of healthy life styles for the welfare of our employees and their families” indicated Darren Thompson, Prodeco Group Operations Vice-President.

The Colombian Safety Council – CCS, is a non-profit corporate and professional type association that provides cutting-edge technical and scientific support in order to contribute to the preservation of health in the working population and in the community, the improvement of safety and the conservation of the environment.
